Armed Forces Support

The Armed Forces Sports Programs includes 18 Armed Forces Championships, 7 Championships and 20 International Championships within Conseil International du Sports Militaire (CISM).  the program is open to all Active Duty personnel, to include Reservists and National Guard on active duty status.  The objectives of the Armed Forces Sports Program are to:

  • Promote goodwill among the Armed Services through sports.
  • Promote the positive image of the Armed Services through sports.
  • Provide the incentive and encourage physical fitness by promoting a highly competitive sports program.
  • Provide the avenue for military athletes to participate in national and international competitions.

The Armed Forces Sports Program serves under the direction of the Armed Forces Sports Council (AFSC), an executive agent of the DoD.  The council is responsible for the overall management and operation of Armed Forces, National and International sports activities.  The AFSC consist of one representative from each of the five services, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.
